A Conversation with Author R.B. Lemberg Online
Cushing Memorial Library & Archives is pleased to host a Zoom discussion with award-winning queer Jewish Ukrainian-American fantasy author, R.B. Lemberg, to celebrate the release of their first full-length novel from the acclaimed Birdverse, The Unbalancing. Lemberg will talk about their career and rich array of work with Cushing’s Science Fiction & Fantasy Research Collection Curator, Jeremy Brett. The talk will be followed by questions taken from the audience.
The Texas A&M University Official Bookstore, Barnes & Noble Bookstore at the Memorial Student Center (https://tamu.bncollege.com/shop/tamu/home), will support the event by providing copies for sale of Lemberg’s new book. The first 40 people to purchase a book through the Bookstore will receive a bookplate signed by Lemberg.

About the Speakers:
R.B. Lemberg is a queer, bigender immigrant from Ukraine, Russia, and Israel to the United States. Their stories and poems have appeared in Lightspeed‘s Queers Destroy Science Fiction, Beneath Ceaseless Skies, Uncanny Magazine, Sisters of the Revolution: A Feminist Speculative Fiction Anthology, and more. R.B.’s work has been a finalist for the Nebula, Locus, Ignyte, Crawford, and other awards. Many of R.B.’s stories and poems are set in Birdverse, an LGBTQIA+-focused secondary world. Jeremy Brett is Processing Archivist and the Curator of the Science Fiction & Fantasy Research Collection at Cushing Memorial Library & Archives. He has also worked at the University of Iowa, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, the National Archives and Records Administration-Pacific Region, and the Wisconsin Historical Society. He received his MLS and his MA in History from the University of Maryland – College Park in 1999. His professional interests include science fiction, fan studies, and the intersection of libraries and social justice.
