Introduction to LaTeX Online

LaTeX is a free document creation alternative to MS Word. It is the standard for writing in many STEM fields and offers advantages for managing references, typesetting math, inserting graphics and figures, and much more.  In this workshop, you will create a LaTeX document using Overleaf, and practice using some core LaTeX features. This workshop is for anyone who wants to learn LaTeX, including undergraduate students, graduate students, staff, and faculty.

By the end of the session, participants should be able to:

  • Access LaTeX on your computer via Overleaf
  • Create a simple LaTeX document
  • Insert equations, figures, and tables
  • Insert references and create a bibliography
  • Identify resources and templates for writing journal articles, theses, and more in LaTeX

If you need accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) to be able to participate in this event, please contact David Hubbard (hubbardd@library.tamu.edu) to communicate your needs at least 5 business days prior to allow us to facilitate a reasonable accommodation.

This workshop may be eligible for GRAD Aggies credit (1 PDU). To receive credit, participants must attend the session, submit the Libraries' attendance form in a timely manner, AND complete any additional steps as required by the respective program.
