A Conversation with R.B. Lemberg: "Yoke of Stars" Online
Cushing Memorial Library & Archives is pleased to host another Zoom discussion with award-winning queer Jewish Ukrainian-American fantasy author and poet, R.B. Lemberg, to celebrate the release of their latest novella from the acclaimed Birdverse, Yoke of Stars (Tachyon Publications). Lemberg will talk about their career and rich array of work with Cushing’s Science Fiction & Fantasy Research Collection Curator, Jeremy Brett. The talk will be followed by questions taken from the online audience.
The Texas A&M University Official Bookstore, Barnes & Noble Bookstore at the Memorial Student Center (https://tamu.bncollege.com/shop/tamu/home), will support the event by providing copies for sale of Lemberg’s new book. The first 40 people to purchase a book through the Bookstore will receive a bookplate signed by Lemberg.

About the Speakers:
R. B. Lemberg is a queer, bigender fantasist, poet, and professor. R. B. was born in L’viv, Ukraine, and also lived in Israel and subarctic Russia before migrating to the US. R. B.’s Birdverse novella The Four Profound Weaves (Tachyon, 2020) was a finalist for the Nebula, Ignyte, Locus, and World Fantasy awards, as well as an Otherwise Award honoree. They are also a Le Guin Feminist Fellow. R. B.’s poetry memoir Everything Thaws was published by Ben Yehuda Press in 2022. Their stories and poems have appeared in Lightspeed Magazine’s Queers Destroy Science Fiction!, Beneath Ceaseless Skies, We Are Here: Best Queer Speculative Fiction 2020, Sisters of the Revolution: A Feminist Speculative Fiction Anthology, and many other venues. R. B. lives in Lawrence, Kansas, with their spouse and fellow author Bogi Takács, their child Mati, and all the cumulative books and fountain pens. You can find R. Jeremy Brett is the Curator of the Science Fiction & Fantasy Research Collection at Cushing Memorial Library & Archives. He has also worked at the University of Iowa, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, the National Archives and Records Administration-Pacific Region, and the Wisconsin Historical Society. He received his MLS and his MA in History from the University of Maryland – College Park in 1999. His professional interests include science fiction, fan studies, and the intersection of libraries and social justice.
