A Conversation with Author Samantha Mills Online
In a ongoing partnership with Tachyon Publications, Cushing Memorial Library & Archives is pleased to host a Zoom discussion with Nebula Award-winning author Samantha Mills to celebrate the release of her first novel, the science fantasy The Wings Upon Her Back. Mills will talk about the novel and her writing career with Cushing’s Science Fiction & Fantasy Research Collection Curator, Jeremy Brett. The talk will be followed by questions taken from the audience.
The Texas A&M University Official Bookstore at the Memorial Student Center (tx.ag/Bookstore), will support the event by selling copies of Mills' new book. The first 40 people to purchase a book through the bookstore will receive a bookplate signed by Mills.

About the Speakers:
Samantha Mills is a Locus, Sturgeon, and Nebula Award-winning author who has published a dozen short stories since 2018. Her fiction has appeared in Uncanny Magazine, Beneath Ceaseless Skies, Strange Horizons, Escape Pod, and others. Mills has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize, as well as the Hugo and Astounding Awards. She has a Master’s Degree in Information and Library Science, and she is a trained archivist focusing on helping local historical societies and research libraries. Mills lives in Southern California. The Wings Upon Her Back is her debut novel.
Jeremy Brett is the Curator of the Science Fiction & Fantasy Research Collection at Cushing Memorial Library & Archives. He is also Cushing's Interim Curator of its Women & Gender Studies Collection and Area Studies Collection. He has worked at the University of Iowa, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, the National Archives and Records Administration-Pacific Region, and the Wisconsin Historical Society. He received his MLS and his MA in History from the University of Maryland – College Park in 1999. His professional interests include science fiction, fan studies, and the intersection of libraries and social justice.
