Identifying Quality Journals, Maximizing Impact, and Avoiding “Predatory Journals” Online
Identifying the right journal can be challenging, especially with an ever-increasing number of journals and publishing options. This workshop will present some approaches, tools, and tips to help you identify quality journal venues. These same approaches, tools, and tips will also help maximize your research impact and avoid “predatory journals.”
After attending this presentation, participants will be able to:
- Define the characteristics of quality journals.
- Utilize various tools to identify and evaluate journals, as well as understand the limitations of such tools.
- Distinguish between legitimate, reputable journals and “predatory journals.”
- Make strategic decisions on publication venues by critically evaluating journals and appraising their potential influence on your academic career.
