Scholarly Metrics for Biomedical Researchers (Webinar)

Speaker: Dr. Bruce Herbert, Director of the TAMU Libraries' Office of Scholarly Communication

Description of the webinar: In recent years, Texas A&M has shifted from emphasizing productivity to impact (see P&T guidelines). Researchers are increasingly called upon to provide evidence-driven narratives about the quality and significance of their work. In this session, aimed at biomedical faculty researchers, we will discuss the theoretical underpinnings of citation analysis and other scholarly metrics, as they indicate quality or significance. This session will walk participants through tools available to them for tracking their scholarly work.

By the end of the webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Identify useful metrics for tracking their work
  • Locate sources of metrics, and identify relevant tools
  • Summarize best practices in the application of scholarly impact metrics

Accessing the webinar: This session will be held online. Speakers or headphones are needed on your computer. No microphone is required; you will be using chat to communicate.
