Ovid Databases Searching Class (in-person: College Station location)

Ovid databases are subscription resources provided through the library. Highlighted in this class are three biomedical databases searchable through Ovid: CAB Abstracts, EMBASE, and MEDLINE.

By the end of the class, participants will be able to:

1. Summarize the difference between the content within CAB Abstracts, EMBASE, and MEDLINE.

2. Create a search using the connectors AND, OR.

3. Use Subject Headings and truncation to improve search results.

4. Narrow the results by using limits like publication type, language, and date.

5. Set up an Ovid account and save searches.

6. Utilize options to email or save citations.

Getting to the class:
This in-person class will meet at the Medical Sciences Library’s Education Center in College Station. Directions and parking for the Medical Sciences Library can be found here. To get to the Education Center, enter the library's main doors, go through the sliding glass doors to your right, then take an immediate right into the Education Center (a computer lab).

Using the computers for the class:
You will need to know your NetID and password to login to the computers. If you are unsure about your NetID/password, please arrive a few minutes early to ensure that you can login. If you do not remember your NetID/password, come early and ask at the library’s desk for a guest login.  You will need some sort of photo ID with you (driver’s license, passport, TAMU or HSC ID) in order to receive a guest login.
