EndNote Basics Class (in-person: College Station location)

EndNote is downloadable software that helps you to gather and organize your citations. It then creates the in-text citations and reference list for you within Word. Click here to learn more about getting the software.

By the end of the class, participants will be able to:

1. Summarize what EndNote is and how it can assist with organizing and creating citations.
2. Explain how to get the EndNote software.
3. Create an EndNote library and add citations manually and through searching databases.
4. Find full-text or attach PDF’s for citations within EndNote.
5. Manage an EndNote library by creating groups and clearing journal term lists.
6. Use EndNote’s CiteWhileYouWrite tab within Word to insert in-text citations, edit them, and change citation styles.

Before the class: The computer lab where this class is held has EndNote loaded on the machines, so you do not need to get the software before attending the class.

Getting to the class:
This in-person class will meet at the Medical Sciences Library’s Education Center in College Station. Directions and parking for the Medical Sciences Library can be found here. To get to the Education Center, enter the library's main doors, go through the sliding glass doors to your right, then take an immediate right into the Education Center (a computer lab).

Using the computers for the class:
You will need to know your NetID and password to login to the computers. If you are unsure about your NetID/password, please arrive a few minutes early to ensure that you can login. If you do not remember your NetID/password, come early and ask at the library’s desk for a guest login.  You will need some sort of photo ID with you (driver’s license, passport, TAMU or HSC ID) in order to receive a guest login.
